THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN GOLDEN

These places are within walking distance of the CSM campus.

1. Adolph Coors Brewery, 13th and Ford Sts. Free tours daily from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. except Sundays and holidays. Free beer for people with ID that shows their birthdates; must be 21 or older.

2. Astor House Hotel Museum and Victorian Gift Shoppe. 822 12th St. Museum shows life at a turn-of-the-century boarding house. FEE

3. Clear Creek Living History Ranch, 11th St., west of Washington Ave. Historic cabins have been moved to this park site and are being reconstructed into a living history museum. FEE

4. Colorado Mountain Club, 710 10th St. Hiking and mountaineering organization with emphasis on education, safety, conservation, and environmental issues. 2nd Thursday of the month slide shows on the club's adventures are free and open to the public.

5. Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St. 9:00 a.m.-4:000 p.m. Mon.-Sat. and 1:00-4:00 on Sundays. FEE

6. Golden DAR Pioneer Museum, 911 10th St. Winter hours: noon to 4:00 p.m.; summer hours: Monday through Sat. 11:00-4:00 June 1-Sept. 1 Donation.

7. Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, 1111 Washington Ave., 1st floor. Tuesday-Sat. 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Exhibits change every 2 months. (Quilts are hand-stitched blankets with designs on them. They were made by early settlers and the art is being preserved.) FEE

8. Territorial Capitol, 12th and Washington Ave. Built in 1861, this building housed the government when Colorado was a territory (before it became a state.) The renovated building is now the Capitol Grill restaurant.

9. Golden Community Center, 1470 10th St. Features: 25-meter lap swim pool, leisure pool, 8,000 square foot gymnasium, indoor jogging track, 20-foot rock climbing wall, dance and aerobics room, classes. FEE per event Call 384-8100 . Hours: 6:00a.m.-10:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8:00-8:00 Saturday; 10:00-6:00 Sunday.

10. Golden Bowl, 535 24th St. Approximate cost: $2.50 per game., plus cost of shoe rental.
