Congratulations to Destiny Williams (George Washington), Cory Feder and Sarah Liddell (Denver School of the Arts) for their collaboration with DaVita and the Fortune 500 Art Installation project. DaVita, which means "giving life" is a kidney care company. DaVita Manager/ Facilities Services, Lisa Bunker, contacted the Arts department early in the year requesting three high school students to partner with them on an arts / office collaboration. DaVita incorporates arts integration at the work place where employees participate in creating an art project connected to DaVita's core values.

The process was designed to interview students as if they were applying for a contract job with a corporation. In addition to presenting a portfolio, students needed to present their knowledge, ideas, and collaboration experience. High School teachers were asked to submit student names and an application recommending potential students.

Destiny, Cory, and Sarah were the three students chosen to participate with DaVita in this corporate opportunity. Each received $2000 in scholarship money for college. Destiny, Cory, and Sarah voiced their comments about the experience saying that "DaVita is a very different corporate environment to bring arts into their work place". They learned to compromise and listen to each other and "in the end agree to work together". "We had fun doing this and we'd do it again".

Thanks DaVita for offering this opportunity to DPS high school arts students.
