Al Yamamah College, soon to be Al Yamamah University, invites applications for the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs to oversee all academic operations, at both Men’s and Women’s divisions . Al Yamamah College is a selective four-year private institution accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, with English as the medium of instruction. It opened the door for enrollment in September 2004 by offering undergraduate program in Business Administration and soon will be offering an Information Technology Program, and MBA program.

 

Al Yamamah College Offers an intensive English language program for all its students during first year through its partnership with U.S.-based INTERLINK Language Centers. Other partnership projects include designing the BBA curriculum by Simon Frasier University in Vancouver, Canada, and IT curriculum by DePaul University in Chicago, USA.

 

The Vice President is the senior academic officer of the College, reporting directly to the President. He advises the president and other executive officers on all aspects of academic affairs.  The Vice President must have proven leadership and management capabilities, an ability to articulate the College’s mission to students, faculty, and staff at all levels; a history of personal and professional integrity; an ability to assess and make recommendations during a dynamic period of establishment and growth; a vision and ability for integrating professional education with a global perspective and respect for cultural values.

 

The Vice President is responsible for, and provides leadership in, the following areas: planning, coordinating, and evaluating the educational programs of the College; oversight and integration of all educational support offices and outreach services; oversight of international linkages; in collaboration with deans and department heads, the recruitment, hiring, and professional training and development of faculty and staff; coordination of on-campus and off-campus educational experiences; overseeing all programs and departments and implementing the College curriculum, ascertaining that all academic departments and programs are working toward achieving the vision and overall goals of the College, including quality of programs, student progress and success, faculty training, growth and effectiveness, curriculum implementation, on-going evaluation and improvement, admissions and records, research and special community outreach programs. While the College is accredited and authorized by the Ministry of Higher Education, it will begin preparation as soon as possible for eventual AACSB accreditation. The Vice President is expected to guide faculty and staff in self-study in preparation for accreditation.

 

The College seeks a Vice President who will be an advocate for the centrality of student-focused teaching and learning and a consensus builder willing to be a collaborator in problem solving.  The Vice President must be an experienced faculty and an accomplished administrator who will be assertive in the support of the College’s transforming mission.

 

Qualifications: Candidates must have: earned higher education degrees, including the Ph.D., from English-speaking countries; a minimum of five years of higher education administrative experience at the level of dean or department chair; a successful record of leadership; demonstrated presentation and communication skills; and proven ability to supervise heads of both academic and administrative departments. Familiarity with other languages and teaching/living experience in the Middle East or in non-English speaking countries desirable.

 

Salary and Benefits: Two-year contract, tax-free salary, ranging between $90,000 and $110,000 per annum; round-trip transportation to and from Riyadh for employee and family members; 30-day annual leave with business class international transportation; a furnished villa; an insured automobile for local transportation; class A medical insurance coverage; 15 days per year local holidays; 5% contract completion bonus; 5% contract renewal bonus.

 

The start date for the position is August 1, 2008.  Finalists will be notified of the Selection Committee’s decision by March 15.
